2018 Enkel’s Year in Review

Our annual year in review provides us with an opportunity to reflect on the milestones we’ve achieved over the course of the year, and to celebrate our successes while uncovering additional opportunities. With substantial growth in our staff and client size, various partnerships and events, and the grand opening of our Alberta HQ, we are excited to carry our 2018 momentum into the new year. Before then, let’s take a look at the past year!

A Growing Team

When we began 2018, we had 10 team members in our Vancouver HQ office, and 5 team members in Noida, India. As our client base continued to grow, we maintained a focus on hiring individuals with an emphasis on technology, leadership, and financial literacy. Today, we have 15 team members in Vancouver, 12 in Noida India, and a freshly launched office in Alberta hosting 1 remote member.

We have developed a workflow that enables open communication between all of our offices, including daily online meetings and team sessions. Over the course of the year, we’ve made four extended trips to visit the team in Noida. We returned from each trip with a completely new perspective on how we can leverage each others knowledge and experience to create an even more amazing experience for our clients.

Our goal in 2019 is to expand all of our offices and to continue to provide a reliable back-office service that goes above and beyond our client’s expectations. To learn more about our current job openings, please visit our careers page!

Entrepreneur Series

In early 2018, we hosted our inaugural “Entrepreneur Series” event, proudly co-presented by Enkel, KPMG Enterprise, and Fasken. The event provided an opportunity for local business owners to meet their peers while hearing the story of our featured speaker, Brian Scudamore. Brian discussed the trials and tribulations he faced while building the O2E Brands, and provided guidance to the audience with regards to some of the day-to-day difficulties entrepreneurs regularly face.

Working with Non-Profits

Over the past two years, we’ve worked closely with a number of not-for-profit organizations to help streamline their back-office processes, increasing their capacity to enable a greater focus on their cause. We've become engrained in the non-profit community, and have had an opportunity to partner with various organizations to share our knowledge throughout the community. Below are some of the events we have co-hosted in the non-profit sector:

Below are just some of the initiatives we have worked on throughout the past few months:

Small Business BC Awards

Small Business BC (SBBC) hosts an annual awards ceremony dedicated to recognizing the outstanding achievements and contributions of BC’s entrepreneurs and businesses. We were thrilled to be nominated for this year for the SBBC’s Best Innovation Award, an award that recognized the development and utilization of advanced or innovative technologies to meet the needs of small businesses.

As technology becomes more predominant in our industry, we have strived to build a technology team responsible for researching, implementing, and creating custom workflows that make our client's processes more efficient. With a focus on using technology to automate and streamline the back office workflows of small and medium-sized businesses, this nomination has reinforced our notion that automation and system integrations are the path to the future.

eBook - Bookkeeping Tips for Growing A Scalable Business

In September of this year, we decided to pool our collective knowledge to write our “Bookkeeping Tips for Growing A Scalable Business” eBook. The eBook was designed with small business owners in mind, and provides an insight into the tools and processes that business owners should incorporate into their day-to-day workflow.
