With the summer upon us, July was a great month for our Enkel team to rest and focus on team building.

Here’s what we’ve been up to this month.

Even though we took a short hiatus on events and webinars, we put our bodies to the test by attempting the Grouse Grind a few weeks back – and we’re still feeling it!

The Grouse Grind

Work-life harmony is a value that we practice at Enkel. We recognize that staying fit is crucial to our everyday well being and our ability to thrive in our workplace.

To put that value into practice, our CEO and founder, Omar Visram, came up with a summer fitness challenge to help our team get in shape. Known in the office as ‘Cirque Du Sore Legs’, it consists of 3 activities – The Grouse Grind, a Spin Class, and a Boot Camp.

Last week, we spent an afternoon on the North Shore and conquered the Grouse Grind, and despite the laborious number of steps on the hike, the Grind was still a great team bonding activity as we supported each other through every step and every drop of sweat.

Guest Post: The Modern Bookkeeper: Living In The Cloud

Cloud-based solutions are gaining popularity in the accounting industry for a good reason. With cloud-based payroll solutions like PaymentEvolution, bookkeepers can create a cloud-based payroll workflow, to increase efficiency and reduce the need for manual data entry.

In this article, we outlined what a cloud-based payroll workflow would look like, and why the modern bookkeeper lives in the cloud.

PaymentEvolution is a cloud-based payroll, payments, and benefits management service based in Toronto, Canada. With a cloud-based payroll platform, Payment Evolution can help business owners calculate taxes, add commissions and bonuses, apply deductions and more. It was great working with the team at PaymentEvolution on this article!

Upcoming: The Small NonProfit Podcast

This coming August, our founder, and CEO, Omar Visram, will be taking part in an interview on The Small Nonprofit Podcast. The Small NonProfit Podcast, by Charity Village and The Good Partnership, focuses on practical and actionable expert guidance on how to run a small nonprofit. Every episode includes an interview with a nonprofit subject matter expert, discussing challenges and strategies to help smaller nonprofits thrive.

For our upcoming interview, we will be chatting with the host, Cindy Wagman, about innovative ways that small nonprofits can operate their organization and how they can digitize their back office. Stay tuned to our interview on iTunes, or the Charity Village website to learn how you can digitize your nonprofit’s back office!
